The container-based incineration system is designed for the incineration of solid,
pasteous and liquid hazardous waste such as waste oil, organic solvents, paint sludge,
lacquers, plastic, synthetic material, rubber halogenated waste, pesticides, PCB, hospital
waste and infectious waste (optional). The capacity of the plants is 2,000-4,000 tons per year, depending on the bulk density
and the heat value of the waste.
The incinerator is a turnkey installation consisting of one 20-foot and two standard 40-
foot containers thereby simplifying transportation and installation on site. The containerbased
concept makes it very easy to move the system from one site with hazardous
waste to another site. The system is complete with feeding system, rotary kiln, secondary
combustion chamber, flue gas cooling system, flue gas cleaning, electrical wiring, control
system, etc. The operating temperature of the rotary kiln is 1,100°C and the subsequent secondary
combustion chamber ensures destruction of the organic components at a residence
time of 2 seconds at 1,100°C. The flue gas cooling system consists of a quench in
which the flue gas is cooled by water evaporation before entering a heat recovery
boiler. The boiler produces hot water, which can be utilised in several ways, for example
for district heating. The flue gas cleaning system is
equipped with a bag filter, quench and
wet scrubber, which ensures compliance
with the following emission
requirements as specified in EU directive
94/67/EC on the incineration of
hazardous waste:
Dust: 10 mg/Nm3 Hydrogen Chloride, HCl: 10 mg/Nm3 Hydrogen Fluoride, HF: 1 mg/Nm3 Sulphur Dioxide, SO2: 50 mg/Nm3 Carbon onoxide, CO: 50 mg/Nm3 Total Organic Carbon, TOC: 10 mg/Nm3 Dioxin: 0.1 ng/Nm3
The waste water from the flue gas cleaning system can be treated in a separate wastewater
treatment plant if there is no direct access to a municipal waste-water treatment
plant. A programmed logistic controller (PLC) ensures a fully automatically controlled operation.
Site requirements
For the container-based incineration system, a paved area of only 350 sq .m. is required.
At the site the following consumables must be available:
Water
Support fuel (Fuel oil or gas) Electricity (380V, 3 phase, 50 Hz)
Air (Pressurised and instrument air) Chemicals for fuel gas cleaning(Sodium hydroxide, NaOH)
All the above need only be installed on a temporary basis.
Residues
Slag – direct to secure landfill Fly ash – direct to secure landfill Waste water – to treatment plant
Advantages
Low initial investment • Limited civil engineering on site • Pre-test before shipment • Quick
assembly and hook-up on site • Short commissioning period on site • Simple operation
